We are incredibly proud to announce that Woodlawn Elementary School has earned an “A” rating from the Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for the FIRST TIME in our school’s history! 🎉🐻
This brings our overall school district rating to a "B"!
And that’s not all — Woodlawn has also been recognized as an Arkansas Gem School! 💎
So, what does this mean?
An “A” rating reflects strong performance across multiple areas of Arkansas’s school accountability system, including student achievement and student growth. It represents the academic progress our students are making and the work happening every day in our classrooms.

The Woodlawn Backpack Ministry is asking for food donations to feed and support our local families in need. Any item that is shelf-stable is recommended. We have been made aware of a “Cat in the Hat” TikTok that has surfaced. While there is no direct threat being made, the intent of the post is unclear. Out of an abundance of caution, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Law enforcement has been notified, and we will continue to work with them as they assess the situation. We will provide additional information if needed.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. David Stover, a beloved member of our community and a proud Woodlawn Bear.
Mr. Stover was a proud Woodlawn alumni and served on the Woodlawn School Board for over 30 years. Mr. Stover worked diligently to promote both the school and community throughout his years of service. Under his stewardship the school district underwent numerous improvements in facilities, academics and athletics. His contributions to the students, staff, and programs at Woodlawn School District have greatly impacted the lives of thousands of students and staff over the years.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Stover’s family and friends, and wish them comfort in the days ahead.
Visitation will be held August 21, 2026 from 6-8 pm at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be on August 22, 2026 at 10:30 am at Friendship Church as well.

The Southeast Arkansas Education Service Cooperative is now accepting applications for a full-time secretary for the special education department, effective this school year. This position will be housed at the Special Education office at the Warren School District and serve the Woodlawn, Warren, and Hermitage School Districts.

Our doors will open at 7:30am. Any parent of our elementary students are welcomed to walk them to their classrooms on the first day only. Parents must exit the building by 8:05am.
As always, we ask all drivers in our car drop-off and pick-up line to be cautious, drive slow, and follow any staff directions as we will have some parents and students entering our building from the parking lot tomorrow morning.
