The Woodlawn School District and Community was happy to celebrate the 55th year of utilizing the Carl Jones Sports Complex Gymnasium. The first game was played in the gym in the fall of 1968. Many fans were in attendance to see members from the Classes of 1969 through 1972 who were recognized for starting a long held tradition between the community and the Gymnasium.
Family members were also present to represent the men who made this Gymnasium a possibility five decades ago. The members of the School Board that put forth the 5 mil resolution to the Woodlawn Community at that time were Wilburn Patrick, J.P. Morgan, Billy Stewart, Bill Willis, and Carl Floyd. The family members of both Coach Carl Jones and of Superintendent O.J. Lewis were also recognized at the ceremony.
