Hello!  My name is Dana Gavin.  I am the Literacy Interventionist/Dyslexia Therapist at Woodlawn Elementary School. I have 21 years of experience teaching at WES.  I taught 2nd grade for 18 years and have been a dyslexia interventionist for 3 years.  I am a graduate of Woodlawn High School.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education in 2001 from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  In 2015, I received my Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  I am also a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA).

  I believe Dr. Seuss says it best, "The more that you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

2021-2022 Dyslexia Program – Take Flight

During the 2021-2022 school year, Woodlawn School District used the evidenced-based Take Flight: A Comprehensive Program for Students with Dyslexia and Pre-Flight Programs in small group intervention to address the deficit areas of students identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.

Number of Students Who Received Dyslexia Intervention

During the 2021-2022 school year, 45 students attending Woodlawn School District received dyslexia intervention services from a trained dyslexia interventionist.

Total Number of Students Identified as Exhibiting the Characteristics of Dyslexia

During the 2021-2022 school year, 64 students attending the Woodlawn School District were identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.


2020-2021 Dyslexia Program – Take Flight

During the 2020-2021 school year, Woodlawn School District used the evidenced-based Take Flight: A Comprehensive Program for Students with Dyslexia and Phonics First Programs in small group intervention to address the deficit areas of students identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.

Number of Students Who Received Dyslexia Intervention

During the 2020-2021 school year, 32 students attending Woodlawn School District received dyslexia intervention services from a trained dyslexia interventionist.

Total Number of Students Identified as Exhibiting the Characteristics of Dyslexia

During the 2020-2021 school year, 48 students attending the Woodlawn School District were identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.

During the 2018-19 school year, Woodlawn Public School District used the evidenced-based Take Flight Dyslexia Intervention Program in small group intervention to address the deficit areas of students identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.

Number of Students Who Received Dyslexia Intervention

During the 2018-19 school year, 22 students attending Woodlawn Public School District received dyslexia intervention services from a trained dyslexia interventionist.

Total Number of Students Identified as Exhibiting the Characteristics of Dyslexia

During the 2018-19 school year, 33 students attending Woodlawn Public School District were identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.
